Upcoming 1.1 Update and call for feedback

Hey y'all, thanks for checking the game out so far. I've been easing back into working on the game and I've been writing a script for the last set of quests for the game. And honestly? The "rest of the game" may end up being way bigger than I originally thought. However, before I start working on that stuff in earnest, I want to put out an update for the game. For one thing, this is to address flaws that people have the game as is. Additionally, if I ever choose to put I Hate You, Please Suffer on Steam, this version of Basic would probably end up being the demo.

Here is a current list of things to expect in version 1.1. However, if you have any specific criticisms or bug reports (don't worry I already caught the NPC standing outside the apartment at the start), please let me know so that they can be addressed!

New Additions:

  • :) Mode: A toggleable mode in the options menu, though I'm not sure if I should keep it toggleable or make it a permanent thing to opt into at the start of the game. It makes the game both easier and harder. On one hand, party members can now donate money to Ramona and there's a few new small areas to poke into; on the other hand, enemies will have expanded movesets, and those new areas aren't exactly easy, either.
  • Speaking of which, yeah, there's a systems options menu now and I put some cheap fuzz for message boxes.
  • Church: The apartment area now has an adjacent local church. Run by Father Alvie, you can visit the church after a character is defeated in battle a certain amount of times to get a little vignette and new skills. This is meant to discourage people from simply reloading their saves after a character dies in battle to preserve their stats.
  • The Hint Token machine now offers the Portable Shop, a one-time use item that lets you access Sheya's full shop from anywhere you can open the menu.

Some upcoming balance changes:

  • Rebalanced Kyrie and Devon's agility so that Kyrie is consistently faster.
  • Pretend It's Not There now heals 1/4th health and makes target immune to damage for one turn, but it's now a skill acquired through the church instead of something Devon naturally learns.
  • Kyrie's Encouragement is also unlocked through the church now.
  • So that the Magic Pill isn't only useful for Devon, it will now also raise magic defense while the Defense Pill will only increase physical defense.

Let me know what else needs to be updated!

That’s a weird bug. What exactly happened on your end?

That’s weird, never heard of anything like that happening in an RPG Maker game before. When you save, does a save file appear in the game’s folder?

Huh, that is real weird. Never heard of that happening before. Well, glad that you can get back to playing at least.

Looks great!
